Karla K. Francisco, pastor of Harvest of
Judah Fellowship (HOJF), began her teaching ministry in 1979 as a Sunday
school teacher. She has been teaching the Bible for 29 years and served
with her husband, Steven Francisco, as an associate pastor for 14 years
in Hampton, VA.
In January of 2004, she and Pastor Steven were sent to Isle of Wight
County, VA to plant a new congregation. However, on July 6, 2004, only
six months after being sent to plant a new church, Pastor Steven
Francisco, died his earthly death and was promoted to the Kingdom of
Heaven. This was totally unexpected, and Pastor Karla was faced with the
greatest and most painful challenges of her life: having to continue
life without Steven, the only man she had ever known and loved; seeing
their 22 ½ year marriage of love, unity, and devotion, come to an abrupt
end; facing the reality of now being a single mother to their three
children; and struggling with the promise she had made to Steven, to
carry on the ministry should something ever happen to him.
But during her darkest hour, as always, God began to minister to her in
a profound and personal way, letting her know that He was with her and
fully in control of all that had happened. God then anointed and
strengthened her to minister to and encourage others as she stood with
the courage and strength of Joshua delivering her own husband’s eulogy
at his homegoing celebration.
Next, Pastor Karla began seeking God concerning the direction He would
have her take in leading the ministry. Being a woman whose greatest
passion is loving God for who He is, and demonstrating that love through
worship, it is no surprise that this is the primary focus of her
ministry. Her leadership style is quite different from other pastors.
Harvest of Judah is a prayer-based ministry based on Isaiah 56:7 and
Mark 11:17, in which Jesus said, “My house shall be a house of prayer
for all people.” Praise and worship, the highest forms of prayer, take
top priority at HOJF.
Through many personal struggles, Pastor Karla has learned the power of
prayer, intercession, and to live by faith. She has learned to war in
the spirit waging major victories for her family and herself. She is a
powerful intercessor who knows the value and importance of saturating a
ministry in prayer.
Pastor Karla earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and
master’s degree in secondary education from Old Dominion University in
Norfolk, VA. She resides in Chesapeake, VA with her three children:
Tiffany, 24; Steven, 19; and Taylor, 7.
